Questions to write a permanent note
Contents
In the book How to take smart notes are suggested the following questions to ask to onself when writing a permanent note:
- How does this fact fit into my idea of …?
- How can this phenomenon be explained by that theory?
- Are these two ideas contradictory or do they complement each other?
- What is similar between these two concepts?
- What is the difference between these two concepts?
- Haven’t I heard this before?
- What does it mean?
- How does it connect to that other concept?
- What is not meant, what is excluded if a certain claim is made?
- Why did the aspects I wrote down catch my interest?
- Why is this concept true?
In my opinion, the main principles behind these questions are:
- Finding the why of a conclusion
- Critical questioning arguments that support a conclusion in particular being open minded to arguments contrary to our beliefs trying to understand what arguments support the contrary conclusion.
- Finding relation between thoughts to develop new insights.
